Senior Director, Market Access Strategy

Our client is a global biopharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Senior Director, Market Access Strategy with a focus on Respiratory.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Assists in the development of the patient journey from a brand perspective, in order to identify new opportunities for services and programs.
  • Effectively manages all aspects of the contract creation and implementation process.
  • Provides support to the contributions of leaders in Market Access to brand pricing and contracting strategy.
  • Leads a team focused on the execution of negotiation and access activities.
  • Provides guidance to account managers on issues related to brand strategy.
  • Works in collaboration to tailor brand value story for customer segments.
  • Serves as a liaison between brand teams and Market Access on relevant programs and strategies targeted towards payer and intermediary customers
  • Acts as a proactive internal consultant, informing and influencing brand teams on managed markets issues.
  • Aids in the incorporation of managed markets objectives into brand Payer Strategic Plans.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA degree in a relevant field highly preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of 15+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical market.
  • Experience in Payer Marketing, Brand Marketing, Market Research, Account Management, and/or Field Sales, with both primary care and specialty care businesses, is highly preferred.
  • Must have P&L experience including demonstrated understanding of Gross to Net implications within P&L and ability to manage/shape discussions and decisions.
  • Requires experience with multiple business segments, and the ability to translate broad customer perspective to partners across functions in order to shape strategy.
  • Must have a proven track record of internal stakeholder enrollment and engagement of large organization cross-functions to deliver expected results.
  • Commercial experience across all periods of a product’s life cycle, including growth, in-line, and mature brand LOE events is required.
  • Requires the ability to deliver significant impact on reimbursement, access and affordability opportunities and challenges, in all product life cycle phases.
  • Must have demonstrated customer-facing leadership and capabilities, either Sales or Market Access.
  • Requires a proven track record of attracting and growing talent.
  • Experience in US Market Access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals is required.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
  • Requires financial acumen with the ability to assess and drive portfolio value with customers (B2B) on a national scale across business segments.
