Associate Director, Translational Pathologist

Our client is an immuno-oncology company developing next-generation antibody therapies. They have asked us to assist them in their search for an Associate Director, Translational Pathologist.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Spearheads the development and analysis of slide-based assays.
  • Provides leadership to the molecular pathology laboratory.
  • Provides translational scientific leadership and direction for the biomarker strategy to drug development programs within the therapeutic portfolio.
  • Oversees translational science studies and activities designed to explore pharmacodynamics, mechanism of action, and predictive biomarkers including management of CRO vendor relationships with respect to clinical assay transfer and validation, as well as clinical biomarker data analysis.
  • Authors and/or reviews translational science input into clinical documents including clinical trial protocols, informed consent forms, and clinical study reports as well as external scientific publications.
  • Remains up-to-date on current scientific literature and novel technologies that may inform and facilitate translational science activities.
  • Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses.
  • Interacts collaboratively and communicates clearly with multidisciplinary teams.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD) required. MD/PhD highly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 3+ years of anatomic pathology training and experience.
  • Requires solid knowledge and understanding of the interpretation of histology, and the development of slide-based biomarker assays including immunohistochemistry and multiplex immunofluorescence methods.
  • Experience in quantitative image analysis required.
  • Research background and experience in cancer biology, immunology, and/or immuno-oncology is highly preferred.
  • Must have experience with assay transfer and validation, as well as management of Contract Research Organizations
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving required.
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
