Executive Director, Market Access

Our client is a biopharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for an Executive Director, Market Access.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Owns the pricing and market access potential in current therapy across all stages of lifecycle development.
  • Serves as an expert of payment policy issues.
  • Identifies payer needs and anticipates their reaction to lifecycle products.
  • Executes plan to address identified gaps through HEOR studies, publications, messaging and influencing.
  • Develops the product’s value proposition and steers the development/updating of the product value repositories.
  • Designs the protocol for health economic studies and the integration of payer relevant endpoints in the clinical development plan.
  • Identifies relevant and commercially attractive assets in the product pipeline.
  • Commissions and prepares health economic and outcomes research analyses necessary for reimbursement submissions and competitive messaging.
  • Collaborates with market research.
  • Develops regular updates on the competitor landscape for individual product indications and implications to market access.
  • Evaluates future needs for hiring across market access function.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related discipline required. Advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 15 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in pricing, reimbursement, HEOR, or related.
  • Requires experience providing hands-on support product launches.
  • Experience with complex and novel rare disease highly preferred.
  • Must be familiar with economic modeling and have a solid commercial background.
  • Requires an in-depth understanding of payers and their perspective in the key worldwide markets, as well as, trends in pricing and reimbursement.
  • Must have a solid scientific background enabling the assessment of trial design impact on payer strategies and the ability to challenge clinical development or medical affairs or other relevant stakeholders.
  • The ability to interpret and critique clinical study protocols, as well as, identify relevant clinical endpoints and conducting outcomes research in the early phases of clinical trial development, is required.
  • Requires an established and extensive network of public/private payer contacts and KOLs.
  • Must be able to develop a clear understanding of the company’s financial goals, with a clear ability to prioritize, setting up timelines on an international level.
  • Multi-year experience with health authorities, governmental economists and reimbursement agencies and health care insurance companies’ general management, sickness funds, physician associations or health care consultancy companies, highly preferred.
