Director, Regional Reimbursement

Our client is a growing global specialty-driven biopharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director, Regional Reimbursement.

This is a field-based position that manages a large geographic territory and the reimbursement environment.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Serves as an internal field reimbursement expert and collaborates with colleagues (sales teams, value & access teams, brand teams, etc.) to expand and/or reduce barriers to access for company products.
  • Provides ongoing competitive intelligence and identifies reimbursement-related barriers to access.
  • Contributes to the design and development of related strategies, tactics, tools, and field materials.
  • Understands and translates payer payment trends, policies, and relationships to address non-clinical barriers impacting utilization of company therapies.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key contacts within the MACs.
  • Provides reimbursement support as needed at advisory boards, professional conferences, and payer/healthcare provider meetings.
  • Provides timely and appropriate reimbursement information related to coverage, coding, and payment policies across all payers relevant to a provider’s patient mix.
  • Supports strategic analysis and planning related to changes in local payer coverage policies.
  • Achieves target metrics related to timely and appropriate response to customer requests for reimbursement support.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, economics, business administrations, or life sciences required. Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of related pharmaceutical industry experience, including a minimum of 5 years of directly related reimbursement experience with injectable drugs, infused drugs, or medical device products.
  • Certification in Medical Coding highly preferred.
  • Requires proficiency to overcome access related issues at the provider and payer level.
  • Must be an expert in coverage, coding, and payment policies.
  • Strong business, analytical, administrative, and team building skills are essential.
  • The ability to simplify a complex message and rationale in a compliant manner.
  • Must be able and willing to travel.
