Director of Marketing

Our client is a leading science and technology company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director of Marketing.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Reports directly to the Vice President of US Marketing.
  • Co-leads commercial cross-functional team with a strong focus on building trust and empowerment leading to high performance
  • Manages, coaches, and develops direct and indirect reports.
  • Ensures that all aspects of co-commercialization are executed with a high level of collaboration, transparency, and shared responsibility.
  • Effectively manages stakeholders across the alliance.
  • Builds strong relationships with external stakeholders, including opinion leaders and patient groups.
  • Collaborates on both reimbursement and distribution strategies and plans.
  • Develops short and long-term forecasts.
  • Collaboratively develops scorecards, KPIs, and metrics in order to measure success.
  • Co-leads US brand planning including development of the strategic plan, tactical plan, forecast, and operating expense budgets.
  • Ensures launch readiness ahead of FDA action date.
  • Develops and manages budget/resources required for an effective launch.
  • Pursues leading-edge approaches to meet customer needs.
  • Evaluates and determines best multi-channel promotional mix for brand overall and for each indication.
  • Drives sales of marketed products.
  • Ensures plans and tactics are in compliance with all laws, regulations and company policies.
  • Monitors effectiveness of marketing initiatives and course-correct when necessary.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree highly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical marketing experience, with at least 5 years of oncology experience and 3 years of US oncology marketing experience.
  • Must have launched at least one pharmaceutical or biotech product into the US marketplace, preferably in solid tumor oncology.
  • Previous field sales experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry, and sales or marketing experience with companion/complimentary diagnostics, highly preferred.
  • Requires deep understanding and compliance with the OIG and FDA regulations governing pharmaceutical marketing and the PhRMA code.
  • Experience working with co-promotion or co-commercialization partners highly preferred.
  • New product planning experience and/or portfolio planning experience highly preferred.
  • Must have a proven track record of success for consistently meeting or exceeding sales/quantitative targets and qualitative objectives. 
  • Requires the ability to access and influence various functional areas and motivate groups to actions.
  • Must be able to identify/nurture talent and establish a highly engaged and high performing team.
  • Ability to translate medical information into succinct and impactful marketing messages required.
