Medical Science Liaison, Hematology/Oncology

Our client is a biopharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Medical Science Liaison, Hematology/Oncology.

MSLs are scientifically trained professionals with strong clinical backgrounds who must have excellent communication skills. They are responsible for identifying, developing, and managing relationships with current / future thought leaders (TLs) and other health care providers in academic and community practices. MSLs are field-based and report to a Regional Lead of MSLs within the Medical Affairs department.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supports the Baltimore Territory (MD, DE, Washington D.C.) and other locations as needed.
  • Engages in peer to peer scientific exchange of complex clinical and scientific information.
  • Develops and fosters strong, ongoing, long-term, collaborative relationships with TLs, disease experts, and other health care providers (HCPs).
  • Provides clinical/scientific presentations to internal and external groups.
  • Compliantly provides internal teams with feedback and insights from interactions and discussions with HCPs.
  • Engages in accrual enhancement activities with clinical trial sites.
  • Provides support at professional meetings.
  • Maintains clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in hematology/oncology and company’s therapeutic area.
  • Responds to and documents unsolicited requests for scientific information.
  • Provides clinical input and training to internal functions as requested
  • Provides support for content development and delivery of clinical presentations at Advisory Boards.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) in life sciences required.
  • Must have 10+ years of relevant clinical and/or industry experience.
  • Existing relationships with institutions and/or hospitals in territory highly preferred.
  • Requires understanding of hospital departments and systems.
  • Must have knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Must be willing and able to travel frequently, up to 70%, including overnight travel.
