Senior Director/Head Cardiovascular and Metabolic Clinical Development

Our client is global biopharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Senior Director/Head Cardiovascular and Metabolic Clinical Development.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Acts as an internal clinical therapeutic expert.
  • Provides innovative and tactical scientific and medical leadership in defining the global development strategy for assigned clinical programs.
  • Oversees the activities of assigned Clinical Program Directors/ Scientists within the Therapeutic Area.
  • Ensures alignment with commercial strategies and compliance with regulatory guidance where relevant.
  • Anticipates and addresses potential clinical development needs and opportunities.
  • Determines the overall risk/benefit assessment through cross functional alignment and ensures with relevant department heads/delegates that clear plans to investigate, manage and track risk through the clinical program are reflected in the clinical development plan.
  • Ensures clinical development planning and strategies are updated for stage gate evaluations and presents clinical development strategies and overall benefit/risk evaluations to internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Establishes the presence and reputation of the company through thought leadership, interactions with KOLs and contributes to the advancement of the company. Develops and sustains strong professional relationships with regulatory authorities.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Requires an advanced degree (MD, PhD or PharmD) in life science/healthcare. Board certification (or non-USA equivalent) in Internal medicine or relevant sub-specialty preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, or in collaboration with industry sponsors, highly preferred.  
  • Requires knowledge and understanding of applicable regulations in pharmacovigilance and clinical development. Must be able to think globally and plan proactively.
  • Must have experience in clinical development leading a therapeutic area or complex clinical group. Must have the ability to build and lead well integrated teams and work successfully in a matrix organization.
  • Requires a demonstrated ability to develop constructive, collaborative and effective relationships with direct reports, colleagues and senior management. Must demonstrate cross cultural sensitivity ability.
  • Must be able to think strategically, create innovative strategies, and anticipate future trends.
