Pharmacologist, Infectious Disease

Our client is a dynamic biotechnology company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Pharmacologist, Infectious Disease.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Manages research team including the Scientist- and Research Associate level. 
  • Helps shape overall pharmacology strategy in infectious disease, inflammation and potentially other therapeutic areas as well as early discovery efforts.
  • Identifies appropriate models to investigate efficacy in immunology/inflammation and/or infectious disease area so strong background in mechanism of various models is key.
  • Ensures forward momentum across multiple functional areas and programs.
  • Opportunities for program lead for the right candidate.
  • Collaborates internally with other discovery functional areas and project teams to prioritize candidates for tertiary efficacy analysis screens.
  • Manages external collaborators, both CROs and academics, to access models and develop data consistent with the company’s therapeutic goals.
  • Works with external consultants to define relevant pharmacology program.
  • Supports IND filing in various therapeutic areas through timely and thorough reports documenting efficacy, mechanism of action, and safety of candidates.
  • Manages work against corporate objectives and agreed upon budgets.
  • Contributes to intellectual property foundation through insights gained in studies.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Must have 5+ years of industry experience in biotech and pharmaceutical companies with proven expertise in the design and conduct of animal pharmacology; large molecule biologics or live attenuated bacterial vaccines; experience with inflammatory, metabolic and immunologic models preferred.
  • Must have a PhD in relevant biological discipline.
  • Must have a track record of successful contribution to corporate discovery efforts.
  • Must have experience with preclinical regulatory reports to support IND and NDA filings.
  • Must have a track record of innovation, as evidenced by inventorship on patents.
  • Experience and effectiveness in highly collaborative environments; able to incorporate views from complementary disciplines to improve quality and relevance of work is a must.
