Our client is a rapidly growing, specialty biopharmaceutical company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director, Information.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Leads and directs the development and transfer of intellectual capital that maximizes the safe and appropriate use of the company’s products to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Develops strategies and tactics for the Medical Information organization that are aligned with unmet medical needs as defined in the Medical Plans. Serve as a business partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Legal, Corporate Communications, and Compliance to support scientific exchange activities.
  • Leads teams, and works effectively in a highly matrixed environment and have a successful track record of developing project strategies and executing project details.
  • Provides direct supervision to staff across medical information and third-party vendors and ensure compliance with existing SOPs, policies and work instructions.
  • Leads and provides strategic, personnel and budgetary oversight of the Medical Information function and administration of related activities.
  • Provides leadership for business critical initiatives and projects.
  • Develops strategies for leveraging scientific dissemination channels to address unsolicited medical information requests and provide oversight in the development and transfer of intellectual capital (in the form of standard response letters, frequently asked questions, payer executive summaries, AMCP dossier, etc.) to health care professionals, payers and consumers, in response to unsolicited requests.
  • Leads Medical Scientific Review Committee and Governance team responsible for the review and approval of scientific content across Medical Affairs.
  • Executes tactics to support commercial activities, including but not limited to ensuring the scientific integrity of scientific and promotional materials, scientific dissemination in support of formulary access activities, Speaker Training, Sales Training, etc.
  • Develops implements and ensures training is performed on applicable SOPs, work practices, and corporate policies governing the dissemination of reactive scientific information and communication with healthcare providers.
  • Supervises, develops, coaches and mentors staff, as requested.
  • All information (written, verbal, electronic, etc.) that an employee encounters is considered confidential.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • PharmD, MD, PhD is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a minimum of 7 years of experience in the Medical Information space is required.
  • 5 years of management experience.
  • An understanding of the Medical, Regulatory and Commercial environments is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, as well as a proven track record of working effectively in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines.
  • A demonstrated success in building and managing effective teams.
  • Demonstrated vendor and budget management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in tactical execution of Medical Information activities.
  • Global Medical Information experience is a considered a plus.
  • Organizational and planning skills, be detail-oriented.
  • Highly self-motivated and be able to multiple-task in a timely fashion.
  • This person must have excellent project management and time management skills and analytical and strategic thinking; problem-solving skills.
  • Healthcare professional license preferred but not required.
  • Training or past experience in Respiratory or CNS related disorders preferred.
