Director Discovery, Oncology

Our client is one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director Discovery, Oncology.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Investigates mechanisms of immune-mediated pathogenesis in cancer and to discover and develop novel immunomodulatory therapies for the treatment of cancer.
  • Leads a group that includes his/her own laboratory and potentially other scientists and their laboratory groups, as well as project teams, and will collaborate with research scientists at multiple sites, including teams in other functional areas such as Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences, and Computational Biology.
  • Contributes more broadly to the research goals and milestones of the company’s cancer immunotherapy efforts and will be expected to publish and to present at national/international meetings.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 3 years of scientific experience OR Master’s degree and 6 years of scientific experience OR a Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of scientific experience.
  • Doctoral and post-doctoral training in immuno-oncology, immunology, or oncology, and 7+ years of additional experience leading a lab or research group.
  • This person must have a strong background in T cell immunology, cancer immunotherapy, and drug discovery development.
  • Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record in top tier journals.
  • This person must have a demonstrated track record of discovering and developing therapeutics for cancer or immune diseases.
  • Expertise in immunological assays, biochemical and cell signaling approaches, bioinformatics, imaging techniques, and complex cell-based assays.
  • This person must be able to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment.
  • Highly creative and knows how to demonstrate innovative and interdisciplinary thinking towards the discovery of novel targets and the understanding of immune-mediated mechanisms in cancer.
