Director Corporate Development

Our client is a leading and rapidly growing pharmaceutical company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director Corporate Development.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supports the company’s business by identifying, evaluating, recommending and securing new business opportunities through strategic alliances, new product/company acquisitions, licenses and/or co-development that support the objectives of the organization.
  • Drives the identification of opportunities for internal product development by closely working with a cross functional group.
  • Leads a cross-functional team of resource managers to develop technical, commercial and financial assessment of all new business opportunities.
  • Maintains in-depth generics market intimacy, providing critical commercial inputs to portfolio development, proper hand-off to integration/project teams from acquisition/licensing and monitoring market intelligence, competitors and trends.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the generic licensing/business development process and landscape.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial statements and their relationship to underlying business and financial results.
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver credible and persuasive oral presentations to internal management and external business partners.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in general business, finance, physical sciences or related is required.
  • An MBA is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 plus years of pharmaceutical industry experience is a must.
  • A minimum of 5 plus years of managerial experience is required. Must have intimate working knowledge of the generic drug development process developed through direct work experience.
  • Able to effectively build and understand modeling and reporting tools, knowledge of ROI analysis and various methods, tools and other resources for building financial business cases, risk analyses and company valuations techniques.
  • Proven track record of performance that demonstrates strong leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and succeed in a matrix environment with a high degree of collaboration and initiative.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to constructively challenge and influence the decision making process.
  • Prior M&A experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in forecasting, business analytics, finance, strategic planning, portfolio management, business intelligence, and marketing preferred.
  • Travel required up to 50%.
