Senior Medical Science Liaison

Our client is a global biopharmaceutical company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Senior Medical Science Liaison.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Maintains a high standard of integrity and professionalism in the medical community, including the sharing of scientific data in full compliance with company policies.
  • Interacts with healthcare providers within assigned geography to act as a scientific and clinical resource.
  • Establishes relationships with thought-leaders, academic institutions, healthcare professionals, payers, and professional organizations in the medical community; engages audiences to support the company’s programs.
  • Engages in MSL team activities/initiatives.
  • Under the direction of Medical Affairs management, coordinates with internal staff to identify and interact on various programs to maximize effective utilization of resources.
  • Serves as an educational resource to healthcare providers on disease state concepts, including providing effective presentations to groups, and participating in 1:1 discussions, tailoring discussions to meet specific needs.
  • Provides support to clinical site investigators, as needed, as a resource to the clinical department.
  • Responds to unsolicited requests for information on clinical data and acts as a primary resource.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in treatment trends that could impact the company.
  • Maintains clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in the therapeutic area, and in-depth and up to date knowledge of the company’s pipeline and competitor’s portfolio.
  • Acts as the primary resource to healthcare providers who request information on the company’s products.
  • Serves as a liaison between key corporate functional areas and healthcare providers who express interest in conducting investigator-initiated research, to facilitate review and consideration of research proposals.
  • Serves as a disease-state resource and communicate information obtained from field interactions to internal staff.
  • Represents and supports the company at medical conferences.
  • Presents relevant scientific and clinical information in a variety of settings, including but not limited to internal meetings, advisory boards, Medicaid DUR/P&T, payers, and academic/group practice/individual discussions.
  • Assists as needed in the development of the company’s projects and initiatives with internal colleagues across functional areas, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, and Commercial/Marketing.
  • Participates in training and staff meetings in within medical affairs groups and in planning of consulting meetings.
  • Understands the healthcare regulatory environment.
  • Comprehends current literature and understand health economics.
  • Effectively presents clinical/scientific information in a group or individual setting.
  • Completes goals within allotted timeframes, and deliver high quality results.
  • Initiates, plans and completes projects.
  • Implements activities according to the Medical Affairs’ annual Medical Plan and other strategic initiatives.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced biomedical sciences degree (DO, MD, NP, PA, PharmD, PhD) required.
  • A minimum of 3 years removed from terminal post-graduate training with minimum of 5 years of documented success as an MSL.
  • CF experience preferred.
  • Strong initiative and ability to identify issues and create solutions.
  • Knowledge of assigned geographic territory.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment.
