Director Medical Information

Our client is a global specialty pharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director Medical Information.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Manages (e.g., oversight, budget, compliance) for professional contact center, writing and editorial services.
  • Writes and/or reviews and approves out of scope requests.
  • Works with writing support to create annual review schedule.
  • Writes and/or reviews and approves standard response materials and manages routing through the Non-promotional Review Committee (NPRC).
  • Develops and implements appropriate action plans in response to unexpected events.
  • Assists in education of staff to ensure comfort with therapeutic areas of interest and standard response documents.
  • Monitors compilations pertaining to company product information in collaboration with Medical Directors and prepare submissions.
  • Updates internal repository for use of the company’s R&D employees.
  • Creates and maintains Medical information Department's policies, practices and procedures.
  • Assists in knowledge management activities.
  • Staffs medical information booth in accordance with the company’s policies.
  • Manages integration and launch of new products.
  • Assess and engages with vendors; monitors progress and sets performance metrics.
  • Leads individuals for responding to escalated questions from professional call center in collaboration with peers in Medical Affairs.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for call triage exceptions not otherwise addressed adequately by adverse event handling, product complaint handling, medical/product information inquiries, reimbursement support, and patient assistance support and customer service and coordinates teams of individuals to address HCP and consumer concerns.
  • Reviews non-promotional materials for NPRC as needed.
  • Provides medical review of promotional materials (MARC).
  • Participates as Medical Affairs team member in launch planning and execution.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • PharmD or equivalent in medical communication experience with an advanced degree.
  • Possess a minimum of 10+ years of experience in medical communication activities.
  • Knows how to leverage and optimize partnerships with other functions within R&D and company-wide e.g. Commercial, Legal, Corporate Compliance, and Quality.
  • Medical communication and writing practices.
  • Advertising and promotional requirements of the FDA.
  • Drug development and various R&D disciplines involved in overall lifecycle of drug.
  • Dealing with Ambiguity, Decision Quality, Functional/Technical Skills, Informing, Verbal and Written Communication, Time Management, Planning, Teamwork and Presentation Skills.
