Medical Science Liaison, Hematology

Our client is a global, research-based biopharmaceutical company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Medical Science Liaison, Hematology.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field based scientific expert that strategically supports the research and business objectives of a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle. MSLs are the primary communicators of the company and are viewed as peer scientific experts in a designated therapeutic area. They combine strong business acumen, market awareness, as well as clinical expertise, and serve as a conduit of information to multiple cross-functional partners.  Based on therapeutic needs and product life cycles, teams will focus on certain field and medical/scientific responsibilities.  This person will be responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supports research initiatives across development at the request of Medical Affairs to include but not limited to, site evaluation and identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, and opinion leader identification.
  • Identifies, gains access to, and develops professional relationships with External Experts (EEs) in therapeutic areas of interests within assigned geography.
  • Provides education relative to disease state and the company’s products across the product lifecycle to healthcare providers and researchers.
  • Develops and communicates a professional growth plan focused on the continued building of personal strengths in business and scientific acumen.
  • Continually educates self on global market issues/trends and product knowledge as it pertains to specific business responsibilities in key therapeutic areas.
  • Takes personal responsibility for and actively manages professional development.
  • Works with internal customers to develop and execute a territory plan designed to support and meet shared business objectives.
  • Inputs and maintains internal database as it relates to activities in their geography.
  • Marketplace preparation in new therapeutic areas of interest, which includes creating awareness and relationships for the company in the Medical community.
  • Serves as a scientific resource to cross-functional business partners as appropriate to support activities such as Medical Congress staffing, Advisory Boards, and training initiatives.
  • Serves as a scientific resource to commercial colleagues to provide support for answering unsolicited Medical questions, adverse event reporting, and other clinically related Medical information issues.
  • Serves as a scientific resource to cross-functional business colleagues to provide support for answering unsolicited Medical questions, adverse event reporting, and other clinically related Medical information issues.
  • Provides and supports clinical information needs within an assigned geography and supports the Global Medical Affairs team and corporate needs by meeting targeted goals relevant to specific EEs.
  • Supports local clinical and cross-functional business partners. Provides support for clinical initiatives, executes a territory business plan and team tactical plan supporting clinical and Therapeutic Area needs.
  • Meets assigned project deadlines and achieves annual impact goals.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Advanced degree required in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Doctorate degree strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry related experience.
  • MSL must possess advanced problem solving and analytic skills to be able to identify and translate specific territory and corporate needs, into an action that will achieve objectives.
  • Previous pharmaceutical industry experience within Oncology/Hematology highly preferred.
