Associate Product Director, Lupus

Our client is a multibillion dollar specialty biopharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for an Associate Product Director, Lupus.

The successful candidate will lead their team in developing and executing in-line product marketing efforts under the direction and leadership of senior marketing management. This position will work with field sales, vendors, and other team members to develop and execute highly effective, results-driven marketing initiatives to maximize product opportunities and revenues in Lupus.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Provides leadership and maximizes Lupus marketing plan execution to achieve product and corporate objectives.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching and developing a high potential Senior Product Manager.
  • Quickly develops strong understanding of patient, HCP, and payer needs and how they define the current treatment paradigm.
  • Breaks the Lupus market down into clearly defined segments.
  • Defines which segment to compete in and how to be successful in that segment (i.e. define strategy).
  • Defines areas of improvement and recommendations on activities that should be performed differently in our chosen segment and measures the return on investment.
  • Provides leadership on building a compelling business plan and defining the budget required to deliver against the plan.
  • Involves key stakeholders in every step of the planning process to ensure strong pull through.
  • Partners well with the Sales VP and regional directors, including their teams.
  • Defines the future promotional claims needed to grow our Lupus business to define the lifecycle management plan.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate level degree preferred. Scientific degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.
  • Successful pharmaceutical sales experience (sales management a plus).
  • Proven track record of managing teams and direct reports.
  • Skilled at developing and leading high performing teams.
  • Strong ability to lead market segmentation process.
  • Proven success at leading brand strategy and product positioning process.
  • Skilled at leading HCP marketing, patient marketing, and lifecycle management (payer marketing a plus).
  • Practiced at selecting and managing agencies.
  • Talent for engaging with Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Skilled at successfully navigating Medical, Legal & Regulatory review process.
  • Strong ability to lead large cross functional projects.
  • High sense of urgency.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Collaborative and works effectively in a team environment.
  • Highly skilled at reading others and knowing how to proceed appropriately.
  • Open to feedback and the opinion / recommendations others.
  • Frugal and focused on ROI.
