Medical Science Liaison

Our client is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutics. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Medical Science Liaison.

This field-based position will be responsible for providing support to the organization’s Clinical Operations by leading medical and scientific exchanges with physicians regarding the company’s oncology products that is consistent with product medical strategy and delivered in an ethical, timely and client-focused manner. This position will also liaise with academic research institutions to address medical and scientific inquiries, facilitate investigator-initiated clinical trials and support company-sponsored clinical trials.

The successful candidate should have experience and a network of meaningful connection with oncology investigators and institutions, and should be able to demonstrate expertise and knowledge of oncology products, disease state, patient treatment trends, clinical trials and scientific activities within the product disease areas and continuously update this expertise and knowledge based on training direction and approved resources provided.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include: 

  • Establishes, develops and maintains collaborative relationships with clinical investigators, national and regional opinion leaders and speakers.
  • Gives medical/scientific presentations to internal and external groups.
  • Responds to requests by healthcare providers by providing accurate, approved scientific data.
  • Works in conjunction with the clinical development team to evaluate potential external clinical research collaboration opportunities and facilitate the conduct of all external clinical investigator-sponsored trials and company-sponsored trials.
  • Assists in the development of medical communications materials and publications.
  • Sustains expertise in therapeutic area treatment management and new therapies, competitive products and features, and provide feedback to the senior leadership team on specific initiatives.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Masters degree required at minimum. Doctoral degree strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to have a strong grasp of science.
  • 5+ years of MSL experience preferred, with majority based in community and academic cancer research centers History of excellence in the MSL role.
  • Superb communication skills (public speaking, 1:1 exchanges, written communications.
  • Passionate; self-motivated; engaging, personable.
  • This position will require greater than 50% domestic travel, including within the territory, and to the home office and national meetings.
