Senior Manager, Business Intelligence

Our client is a major global pharmaceutical and biotech company committed to improving health worldwide.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Senior Manager, Business Intelligence.

The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence is responsible for generating, integrating and translating insights and analytics into growth opportunities and tactics that shape decisions and drive organizational action within the BU. This Senior Manager will also be responsible for Business Intelligence Functional Leadership across the company.

This position will partner closely with brand teams and cross functional partners and serve as an internal consultant to the Sales & Marketing team. This position plays a key role in advising and counseling business partners in the development of new and existing business strategies and as a result, shares accountability for business results.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Implements intelligence and research approaches, identifies appropriate supplier partners and fosters strong partnerships in the context of resources, timing and overall project goals. Creates & implements comprehensive business intelligence plans (including alerts, timelines, and competitive simulations) designed to communicate the impact of competitive and environmental insights on brand and franchise strategies and plans. Is accountable for conducting intelligence and research activities in a compliant manner.
  • Integrates intelligence and primary research insights with analytical insights developed by peers across the Commercial Insights & Strategy (CIS) team (forecasting and integrated analytics) for (relevant TA) (e.g., Brand or Franchise) and translates into business impact. Provides strategic input to help shape strategic business plans, brand strategies and new product launch plans and life cycle management for Cardiovascular. Leads all business intelligence collection with field, acting as a key liaison and designing and managing processes to collect, interpret and deliver field intelligence to provide business insights and impact brand strategies.
  • Focuses on key business questions and frames business problems into intelligence and research plans. Provides integrated findings and insights that drive sales and marketing strategies for their respective franchise teams as well as the portfolio. Responsible for designing and executing search strategies for secondary sources to monitor business and clinical development environment. Collects, analyzes, archives, and reports information by systematically using a variety of internal and external sources to support the BI needs of the organization.
  • Manages central database: indexing, scanning, and archiving information. Applies basic consulting skills, including consultative listening, problem definition, hypothesis generation, data analysis, translation to value, and oral and written presentation for impact. Partners across the CIS team to integrate all information (BI, custom, syndicated, market research) into strategies and organizational actions that drive tangible growth in revenue or profit. Stays abreast of emerging healthcare & pharmaceutical industry trends and assess their potential impact on the company’s franchise business strategies. Acts with speed, agility and accountability. Cultivates meaningful internal and external partnerships, adding value and insights for the organization; being insight driven to uncover important unmet needs. Takes personal accountability for making Credo-based decisions and fostering a Credo-based culture.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required; Advanced degree desirable.  A minimum of 7 years of relevant business experience OR a PhD and 5 years of relevant business experience required.
  • Competitive/Business intelligence experience required.
  • Experience in market research, marketing, sales, business analytics, strategic planning, or management consulting preferred.
  • Clinical/scientific knowledge a plus.
  • Diversity of experience is preferred, with demonstrated learning agility in order to be able to move across different types of markets such as primary care/retail or specialty markets.
  • Cardiovascular experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment is a plus.
  • Business/market experience and industry knowledge to influence franchise/brand level decisions and strategies are required.
  • High level of knowledge of the pharmaceutical business and product uses, benefits, and clinical development programs required.
  • Requires strong analytical skills for business and competitive analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability with searching secondary methodologies (e.g. Dialog, Lexis-Nexis, Pipeline databases, Internet, Patents, and Investor Research) and primary information sources required.
  • Experience in intelligence gathering and due diligence research required.
  • Business acumen, strategic thinking skills required.
  • Ability to integrate and leverage insights and analytics required.
  • Experience in developing comprehensive and impactful recommendations and solutions that drive key decisions required.
