Our client is a leader in human antibody technologies.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director/Sr. Director Strategic Planning & Business Operations.

The Director/Sr. Director Strategic Planning & Business Operations will have primary responsibilities in leading business operations, strategic and financial planning (liaising with R&D Finance), as well as supporting and facilitating business development.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Leads cross-functional teams to achieve business operations goals. Manages relationships with strategic vendors and service providers (coordinating with Procurement, Finance, and Legal) conducting significant business and providing key services and products. Provides project leadership and single point of contact for internal and external teams facilitating approvals, contracting, and other processes.
  • Leads financial planning efforts, liaising with R&D Finance, to inform scientific, business, and operational decisions facing senior management. Prepares and maintains, with support from R&D Finance, project specific budgets, collaboration expenses, and other financial modeling/projections that may be required for business operations and strategic planning.
  • Works with business development in sourcing and negotiating collaborations. Manages relationships with tech transfer and business development counterparts. Coordinates Business Development and Legal efforts and facilitate the preparation and execution of legal documents. Helps lead negotiations towards definitive agreements.
  • Maintains business continuity plans and institutionalize best practices and policies. Supports departments in the evaluation and procurement of new technologies, services, and products. Ensures that all business operations needs are monitored and fulfilled in time for business/department needs.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent training/experience in corporate finance, business development, technology transfer, or healthcare investing. MD or PhD preferred. Background in genomics preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in operations, business development, corporate finance, consulting/strategy, or related role.
  • 8+ years of increasing responsibility in the healthcare and biopharmaceutical industries.
  • Demonstrated track record in business development and alliance management with experience structuring, negotiating, and implementing complex agreements.
  • Strategic thinker with deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical discovery and development process, and the strategic issues facing the company. Sufficient knowledge of or desire to learn about all stages of company activities, including next-generation sequencing and analysis in order to manage day-to-day issues.
  • Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and independently, propose solutions proactively, and exhibit sound judgment.
  • Extensive expertise in financial modeling (including valuations, pro forma financial projections, and project budgets/finance). Extensive and advanced experience and proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Office.
