National Account Director, Oncology

Our client is a major global healthcare company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a National Account Director, Oncology.

The National Account Director, Oncology works with identified oncology accounts administration to develop and implement solutions through customized packages that advance the value of our client’s medicines for oncology patients in need.  This includes proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and implementation.  This position maintains up to date knowledge of company and competition's products, services and pricing.  The incumbent will handle key account management for major national accounts with significant impact on overall company Oncology sales.  This position will be focused on key oncology accounts aligned regionally.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Develops business to business relationships with targeted Oncology customers as appropriate.
  • Builds strong, networked relationships throughout key Oncology account customer organizations, and develops/strengthens key relationships with account senior management and decision makers.
  • Ensures and drives consistent implementation of account strategy with respect to pull through across the Oncology sales organization for target accounts.  Tactics include full engagement with the sales force.
  • Prioritizes account projects/initiatives that address changing customer and market requirements; presents business case for opportunity evaluation, including a broad view of the entire account impact and coordinates/manages project implementation.
  • Monitors full Account Contracting process when appropriate including accuracy of all contract terms such as: Key Operational Terms, Rebate Rates and administrative fees, Market basket details, Formulary position information.
  • Communicates with Brand Team, Oncology Field Sales and Market Access & Patient Strategies customer facing teams regarding account-specific programs, activities, and pull-through messages.
  • Identifies issues and challenges with accounts.  Engages with appropriate resources in headquarters for development of customer solutions and contracts.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management and team development ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and influence peers and management.
  • Demonstrated communication and platform skills.
  • Understanding of financial concepts and contracting issues including legal and best price implications.
  • Strong customer facing skills.
  • Prior experience in a commercial function.
  • Demonstrated negotiating capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute contracting, including assessing legal and best price implications.
  • Prior experience in sales management or general management preferred.
  • Prior experience in managed care at a pharmaceutical company or managed care organization is a plus.
  • Prior Oncology account or brand experience preferred.
