Our client is a major global healthcare company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for an Associate Director of Marketing.

The Associate Director of Marketing manages and coordinates the development, implementation and monitoring of brand plans for a US brand or an indication for a brand.  This position participates in the development of marketing strategies and leads the development of marketing tactics to meet business goals.  The Associate Director of Marketing is also recognized as an expert for the brand and/or indication and therefore, provides leadership, mentoring and guidance to others.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Manages and coordinates the development, implementation and monitoring of core elements of the brand plans.  Leads the development and implementation of marketing tactics to ensure attainment of goals related to these core elements. Oversees development and implementation of relevant tactical plans.
  • Represents brand with internal and external stakeholders.  Plays a lead role in the development and execution of brand positioning and messaging to achieve goals.  Collaborates with and coordinates with other brand team members, external agencies and extended team members' alignment of marketing tactics with overall strategy.
  • Monitors/analyzes product and market performance, competitive intelligence, market research to identify key growth opportunities and challenges facing the brand so as to define actions/tactics to advance brand toward its strategic objectives.
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of product forecasts and brand expense budgets.
  • Meets financial targets for the brand including net sales, discounts, market share and expenses.
  • Supports annual business planning process as per schedule. Presents to Senior Management as needed.
  • Manages and implements Phase IV and Life Cycle Management Plans to optimize brand's long-term commercial value.
  • Leads (recruits, hires, coaches, develops, motivates, manages and monitors performance) managers and/or professionals in department specific knowledge, process and procedures.  Sets job expectations, provides regular feedback, conducts timely Max Plan reviews, identifies performance challenges, creates action plans and monitors the effectiveness of those action plans.  Completes Career Planning and competency assessment to ensure professional development of department members.
  • Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations and company policies and procedures.  When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management.  Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to main the company’s excellent reputation within the medical and pharmaceutical community.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience required; MBA preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including 5 years of US pharmaceutical marketing experience or other relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budget and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization.
  • History of successful performance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook and database applications.
  • Ability to travel (may include overnight travel).
