Field Director, Payer National Accounts

Our client is a rapidly growing, specialty biopharmaceutical company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Field Director, Payer National Accounts.

The Field Director, Payer National Accounts Develops and implements short and long-term business strategy to align value propositions, optimize portfolio coverage and ensure patient access to our client’s products within large National Commercial and Government Payers.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensures access by becoming a trusted advisor to key departments within target accounts (Pharmacy, Contracting, Medical & beyond) and by embracing the “selling higher, wider, and deeper” principles.
  • Assesses sales implications (short- and long-term) of contracting, pull-through and payer decisions.  Takes innovative, thoughtful actions to ensure that target accounts continues open patient access to company products.
  • Builds a team that creates strong, lasting relationships with payer Medical and Pharmacy directors, case managers, quality, and other related account stakeholders/influencers.
  • Collaborates effectively with MMLT, Sales Leadership, and other internal stakeholders to execute pull through strategies and deliver results.
  • Clearly articulates the national payer market events in a manner that empowers the greater organization to understand and take action.
  • Proactively collaborates with Marketing, Sales Leadership, Government Affairs, Medical Affairs and HEOR to ensure consistent and compliant exchange of payer information and to maximize profitable access and pull-through.
  • Provides leadership and business expertise through dialogue with internal stakeholders and external payer customers.
  • Takes ownership for building awareness and educating internal stakeholders about trends within the market, and ensuring they understand access with each customer.
  • Builds and maintains Trusted Advisor relationships across accounts, payer organizations, and broader networks.
  • Ensures all team members and contracts are in compliance with state and federal regulations and company SOPs and policies.
  • Manages all administrative aspects of team leadership including, budgets, activities and development plans.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business or Life Sciences is preferred), and 10-15 years of pharmaceutical industry experience with a strong managed market access background.
  • The ideal candidate will show progressive leadership experience within a sales organization (District/Region Manager) and within a Managed Markets Organization (Leading Regional or National Account Teams).
  • Established network of contacts within Managed Markets National/Corporate Accounts.
  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills.
  • Financial background, team based selling skills, and contract operations experience.
  • Requires a high level of initiative and independence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
