Policy Director, Chief Medical Office

Our client is a major global healthcare company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Policy Director, Chief Medical Office.

The Policy Director, Chief Medical Office will lead the strategy, creation and approval of key policy documents and other projects sponsored out of this office.  Reporting into the Head, External Interface Office the incumbent will work with leadership across all divisions to draft, obtain consensus, finalize, create and administer training on key policies (such as LT safety and DSMBs).

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Supports the Chief of Staff for GMD and lead key projects sponsored out of the Chief Medical Office.
  • Acts as a part of the External Interface Office platform function within Global Medicines Development.  The External Interface Office supports all the science units, medical affairs and global commercial. It houses externally facing departments such as the Global Conference and Meeting team, Payment Transparency and the Chief Medical Office.  It's a continually growing department that has become increasingly globally focused.
  • Leads the strategy, creation and approval of policy documents, before finalizing policies and administering key training initiatives.
  • Will be given a high level of autonomy, making this an excellent opportunity to make a real impact on the company’s strategy.  It's a high-profile role, with a wide sphere of influence across all levels and areas of the business.
  • Sets strategic priorities within the Chief Medical Office.
  • Determines policies to be implemented across the whole business.
  • Ensures that key leaders make significant input before drafting policy documents.
  • Creates and implements company-wide training initiatives.
  • Initiates and sponsors projects with the Chief Medical Office.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in handling multiple competing projects, across a wide range of pharmaceutical industry roles.
  • Experience working within a chief medical office preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the research and development process.
  • Strong statistical and policy-writing expertise preferred.
  • Global and cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • A proven record of setting strategic priorities across departments in a pharmaceutical company.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.
  • Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
