Director of Managed Care Marketing, Specialty Brands

Our client is a major global healthcare company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director of Managed Care Marketing, Specialty Brands.

The Director of Managed Care Marketing, Specialty Brands will be responsible for US market access strategy for products within the specialty portfolio.  More specifically, the Director will collaborate with the brand teams, medical, HEOR and MHC to develop and deliver on strategic brand plans that support the product value propositions for patients, providers, and payers to facilitate access and reimbursement specialty products.  The successful candidate will have an ability to thrive in an environment of rapid change; work effectively within cross-functional teams both locally and globally; be highly innovative and creative; and demonstrate their passion for supporting patients throughout their journey.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Leads the cross-functional team through the development and implementation of compelling and differentiated product value propositions.
  • Actively participates in pricing strategy at launch and throughout the brand lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional team to conduct in-depth analyses that drive identification of rich market insights across patients, providers, and payers to inform comprehensive and inclusive market access strategies.
  • Has accountability to the brand teams and MHC to lead the development and integration of the market access strategy into all stages of brand planning.
  • Works cross-functionally with HQ and field teams to develop promotional programs and tactics to pull-through market access strategy.
  • Supports account management teams in customer strategy, planning, and execution (e.g. training, promotional tools/resources, and POAs).
  • Effectively manages agency relationships ensuring promotional programs are delivered on-time and within budget.
  • Optimally manages the internal promotional review process ensuring all marketing activities are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Collaborates with brand teams and MHC to ensure appropriate resources are deployed to meet brand, franchise and corporate goals.
  • Develops and manages associated budgets in compliance with company finance and accounting requirements.
  • Performs all company business in accordance with regulations and company policies and procedures.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.  MBA in relevant field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical market including payer marketing, brand marketing, market research, account management, and/or field sales.
  • Strong understanding of the US market access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/biopharmaceuticals.
  • Experience in customer facing roles preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and experience developing and executing strategy.
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Results oriented with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).
