Associate Director, BioPharm Market Execution

Our client is a leading specialty pharmaceutical company.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for an Associate Director, BioPharm Market Execution.

The Associate Director, BioPharm Market Execution is accountable for portfolio performance within the Payer and Specialty channels.  This position assists in the strategic development within the BioPharm Market Access Channels.  The focus will be profitable access, reimbursement, customer initiative execution and MM Execution with field sales.  The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of effective project management, including RFP development, selection of research partners, contract execution, budget planning, analytic plan development, oversight of data collection/acquisition, data analysis, and development of research findings into effective brand and channel strategies and tactics.

This position requires a matrix team approach that ensures teamwork from Brand personnel aligned with Market Access, Market Access Sales, Field Sales, Sales Ops, Gov’t Affairs, PCOR, Legal, Finance and HEOR.  The incumbent will support Market Access Sales and Brand Marketing, Pricing strategies with expertise in the design and application of Market Access strategy & tactics.  This position reports to the Director, Market Access Strategy.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to leverage and implement knowledge of reimbursement, managed care and healthcare policy.
  • Assists in the development and implements corporate and brand strategies in conjunction with the BioPharm Brand Teams and Market Access Strategy, that result in increased market share of the Company’s products within managed care customer Channels and specific accounts.
  • Assists in the development of plans and executes key programs that will drive long-term profitable relationships with key accounts and the managed market Channel overall.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key organizations in targeted customer Channels.
  • Identifies emerging customer Channels and evaluates the business opportunity for any or all BioPharm products.
  • Assists in the managed care channel strategic planning process for all BioPharm marketed products and ensures cross-functional support for strategic direction.
  • Provides managed markets insights and acts as an integral part of the brand planning process.
  • Uses and leverages understanding of the competitive landscape to anticipate and pre-empt future competitor moves to create strategic opportunities for enhancing portfolio performance through the development of innovative plans and strategies.
  • Uses industry, reimbursement, and disease area expertise to provide strategic input and planning in ways that reveal new opportunities, potential threats and mitigating actions.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of key metrics.  Regularly reviews current program progress to ensure profitability goals are on track.
  • Develops relationships with and commitment from relevant departments to ensure successful execution of promotional strategies.
  • Maximizes revenue and profitability and understands return on investment (ROI) concepts to ensure program effectiveness.  Ensures short-term sales and market share objectives are met.
  • Close collaboration with Extended Brand Teams, to ensure plans and programs are consistent with brand messages and positioning.
  • Direct interaction with customers to understand their business objectives and needs.  Uses business acumen to develop and implement collaborative programs that meet both the customers and the Company’s business objectives.
  • Accountable for oversight of customer specific program development and execution to improve product access, reimbursement and product pull through.  Directs activities of external suppliers and agencies to ensure completion of projects on time and within budget.  Leads and coordinates program implementation efforts between Account Executives, Field Sales and in-house personnel and customers.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience within sales, marketing, or managed markets related functions required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of managed markets experience required; Specialty channel experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage business complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience in diverse functions required.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience required.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Previous experience in pricing and contracting roles preferred.
