Senior Manager, Medical Publications

Our client is one of the world’s leading generics and specialty pharmaceutical companies.  They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Senior Manager, Medical Publications.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Helps drive and manage implementation of the publication plan for specific compounds/ products, operationalizing the publication strategy in close collaboration with brand Medical Directors.
  • Works in close collaboration with the brand Medical Director to develop and implement annual publication strategies for specific compounds/products, and manages the implementation of the publication strategies with responsibility for respective budgets & timelines.
  • Ensures alignment on publication strategy with all relevant functions, and drives forward joint solutions with understanding of the needs and objectives of their respective functions and departments involved.
  • Manages delivery of all publications detailed in the publication strategy, meeting predefined quality thresholds and achieving set target dates in coordination with cross-functional Publications Sub-team (e.g. Medical Directors).
  • Chairs selected Publication Sub-team meetings and supports development of innovative approaches and perspectives, and proactively identifies problem resolutions using advanced analytical skills to solve complex topics.
  • Fosters ethical and trustful relationships with external clinical and academic partners and publishers, and guides them through the company publications process while promoting and supporting good publication principles.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations with a clear sense of how to protect the company reputation, while adhering to all company SOP’s.
  • Identifies and supports contracting process with qualified vendors and oversees all vendor work in support departmental publications outsourcing strategy.
  • Maintains medical publication database system and is responsible for being subject matter expert on all departmental related publications tools and applications.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in science or biomedical subjects, preferably PhD, and a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in the medical publications industry.  Scientific expertise in oncology or neurology is a plus.  However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
  • Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, organization, writing and project management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, accurate, have the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects.
  • Must possess computer skills with working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite including project management software.
  • Requires a working knowledge of company policy and local working practices regarding the contracting of healthcare professionals and the company reporting obligation for reporting payments under the Federal Sunshine Act.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
